There are three options for volunteering with the Animal Rescue Team: Volunteers learn important skills, undertake new challenges, travel to previously unknown areas of the country, and become part of a community that understands the importance of protecting animals from harm. They never forget the animals they helped get on the road to recovery, or the people who are a part of this important mission. Benefits of volunteeringĪnimal rescue volunteers often report that assisting with an HSUS rescue operation changed their lives. Opportunities to learn or apply animal health or behavioral skills and participate in transports and other Animal Rescue Team actions also may arise. There are ample opportunities to provide direct care to animals in our temporary shelters, including cleaning cages and enclosures, feeding, watering, restocking supplies, washing dishes, walking dogs or socializing animals as directed. Since 2020, many of our volunteers have deployed to our animal care and rehabilitation center in Maryland. Team locationĪnimal rescue volunteers (ARVs) are called to respond in different U.S. From animal handling and cage cleaning to administrative tasks, the work of animal rescue volunteers is the true core of the HSUS’s mission to save animals. Animal rescue volunteers come from all walks of life, generously giving their time to apply their skills and experience in response to animals in need. Those volunteers help provide care to animals in our emergency shelters or assist with distributing supplies and providing other support to pets and other animals in impacted communities. and Canada to assist in the ongoing care of dogs, cats and other animals who have been rescued from harm. When the ART responds-whether to a hurricane, large-scale neglect case, dogfighting or commercial breeding operation-animal rescue volunteers travel from all over the U.S. This dynamic duo won’t be around forever, though, as Sejoong is set to be adopted by another individual, since rescue missions are usually too physically demanding for dogs of old age.Animal rescue volunteers work with our Animal Rescue Team to help save animals who are victims of illegal animal cruelty and disasters. Kim can now even tell what the dog wants or how he feels with just one glance. The lieutenant also said that the keys to their success are sharing their feelings and consistent training, as they only have each other to rely on during cold nights searching for survivors. Kim said that he immediately felt that he and Sejoong would be able to form a strong partnership. Kim said that Sejoong was one of the fastest and strongest dogs that he had ever seen when he first met the dog in 2010, prized attributes in Korea given the nation’s extremely mountainous terrain. It was Lieutenant Kim who recognized Sejoong’s potential. However, Sejoong failed to pass the final qualification test on his first few tries, and was only given a post five years after the start of his training. Search and rescue dogs in Korea are usually given assignments after two years of training. The search dog hero Sejoong, a German Shepherd, is a late bloomer. Kim was recently honored at the 2014 Hero Firefighters Awards sponsored by S-OIL. Handler and fire lieutenant Kim Yong-Duck of the Busan Special Rescue Service and his 8-year-old partner Sejoong have made 20 recoveries in the past 4 years. They were responsible for more than one quarter of the overall number of lost casualties found by the 22 search dogs and their handlers assigned to Korean fire services nationally. SEOUL, March 16 (Korea Bizwire) – A search dog and his handler are being recognized for excellent teamwork, which helped them find four survivors and recover three bodies last year. My kids are skinny, so they fit well, but a child with a broader build would be very squished, especially in the shoulders. The interior of the seat is quite narrow. It will keep even very tall kids harnessed until booster readiness. In forward-facing mode, the Revolve (all versions) has an impressive harness height (19”/48 cm).I would love love LOVE to see Evenflo tweak their design so that there is more head space: with the Slim and Extend having such high height and weight maximums, I would expect kids well under those maximums (like my twins) to have lots of head space still. Meanwhile, my shorter twin only fits in the Slim in rear-facing mode: he does not have enough head clearance in the regular and the Extend. Of note is that my taller twin, now at age 5, fits the Revolve in rear-facing mode even though he did not a few years ago. Using the bum cushion may resolve this issue for some kiddos. Age 2 is the minimum age for switching to forward-facing mode, but keeping children rear-facing for longer is the goal. My taller twin, when he was at 37” (94 cm) and 34 lb (15.5 kg), did not have the required 1” (2.5 cm) of space between the top of his head and the top of the headrest at just over 3 years old. Depending on their proportions, some kiddos run the risk of outgrowing the Revolve in rear-facing mode sooner than desired. Will the Evenflo Revolve 360 work for your child? In forward-facing mode, non-removable headrests that lean forward may get in the way: if you cannot remove your vehicle’s headrests, test the Revolve in forward-facing mode before you commit. This can be limiting in some vehicles depending on where you plan to put the seat. The Revolve must be installed in a location with an approved top tether anchor, even if only being used rear-facing.Also note that if you need car seats a side-by-side, you may not be able to rotate the Revolve with another seat right next to it. The front-to-back footprint is unpredictable, depending on slope of the vehicle seats-try before you buy when possible, because if you don’t have enough space to rotate the seat, its purpose is defeated. Will the Evenflo Revolve 360 work in your vehicle? The Evenflo Revolve Slim also has a higher rear-facing maximums (50 lb and 48″) but its design is narrower and it does not convert to a booster seat. Note that the Evenflo Revolve 360 Extend is identical in most aspects to the original Revolve, with some added soft goods and a higher weight and height maximum (50 lb and 48″). This review and the pictures are for the original Revolve 360 car seat unless otherwise specified. Since I originally wrote this review, Evenflo has added two new seats to the Revolve family. Here’s how the Evenflo Revolve 360 stacks up in this regard: What’s the difference between the Revolve, Revolve Extend and the Revolve Slim? So I would like to first offer a quick and dirty pros and cons of this seat for those already won over by the rotational feature demonstrated in my TikTok vid.Įvery single car seat has its pros and cons: there is no single car seat on the market that fits every vehicle correctly or fits every child well. If you’re used to my car seat reviews, you’ll know I go into a lot of detail. #cpst #carseattech #carseatsafety ♬ AIN’T GONNA STOP – Carol Kay in exchange for my review* Here’s your first look at the #evenflorevolve 360, now available in Canada. My first-look TikTok video of the seat garnered over 100,000 views in a very short time. The Evenflo Revolve 360 is a seat that turns heads … and itself!Īs soon as it hit the market, Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPSTs) like myself were bombarded with questions from curious consumers. June 2023: Updated to include Evenflo Revolve 360 Extend and Revolve Slim I particularly like the feature for saving an article in its simplified form. Similar to Evernote (discussed below), DIIGO has capabilities for bookmarking, capturing images and web pages, annotating the web with sticky notes and highlights and basically collecting and organizing information.Īlthough not specifically designed for bookmarking, Evernote has an excellent web clipping tool that you can easily add to Chrome and other browsers. If you’re interested in curation, listen to this interview: Content Curation for Learning. Many online bookmark sites feature sharing as a way to curate and to learn from others. There’s also the social element to bookmarking. It does take some thought to create a smart taxonomy for tagging, as information tends to overlap. Online bookmarking and clipping the web is a real time saver, helping you avoid doing multiple searches for something you saw a few months ago. You can use it to backup files as well as to synchronize files across computers and devices. It has an intuitive interface and it’s free.ĭropbox has an understated and simply intuitive interface. One of the easiest ways to backup and share files in the cloud is with Google Drive. It provides automatic backups and lots of storage. They have annual pricing. As you’ve probably experienced, replacing lost work takes a lot of time. Perhaps two at work and one off-site (if your organization allows for this). It makes sense to back up your work in three places. We need tools to make team work efficient, to easily find and backup our files, to research and to continuously learn. In our industry, many of us design, research, write, collaborate, communicate and create media. But it seems that each industry has a specialized combination of requirements. How learning designers get work done may not be that different than what’s needed in other fields. These are some of the best tools I use or found through research and recommendations. Do you find yourself rushing out the door in the morning and then running to meetings throughout the day? Productivity tools should make your life easier, more efficient, and organized-allowing you to slow down-even just a little. The game shows you everything you should know and learn about a game before buying it. Once you play and you manage to beat it, you can solidly decide whether you want to play this game or not. In general, I can say this was one of the best and most comprehensive demos I’ve played in recent years. Somehow all this chaos is related to Pinocchio, but we don’t know much and have to wait for the full game to come out. Due to unknown reasons for now at least, we don’t exactly know but all the other puppets that Geppetto created as gone frenzy and started killing and attacking the people instead of entertaining them. Geppetto has created many many puppets and you are controlling his latest creation. On the other, we don’t get to control Pinocchio as well, and he is actually the villain of this game. In the demo at least, we don’t learn much about which country we live in, but it is safe to assume it is Italy. Not the cute one that Disney made, but the dark and twisted one that was originally written in Italian. While it may seem a straight-up clone of those games, the game manages to escape from that by the neck with some new mechanics in the game.įirstly, the story of Lies of P is inspired by Pinocchio. Lies of P are among those that are heavily inspired not only in design but also by gameplay mechanics from Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Sekiro as well. In recent years, many game developers were inspired by various aspects of Souldborne game designs. 8 - Devices Operating on the 2.4 GHz FrequencyĪs mentioned earlier, wireless routers wirelessly send radio waves to communicate with your wireless devices. It has the smallest amount of impact on your wireless signal.Įven though it doesn’t significantly affect the signal, it can slightly weaken it as it travels through the walls. 7 - Drywallĭrywall is one of the most common building materials you will find in homes and businesses. For example, a mirror wall will interfere with the WiFi signal more than a small decorative mirror. The effect a mirror has on your WiFi signal depends on the size of the mirror. Due to the metal backing, they cause electromagnetic interference. All mirrors are made up of a thin coat of metal on a piece of glass. Like windows, mirrors are also reflective. Similar to Low-E glass, they sometimes have a metallic film which interferes with specific radio signals. Tinted glass is designed with specific materials to block out the light and often come in an array of colors. Therefore, they can block and reflect the signal more than a clear window. They have a metallic film to help with energy consumption. Especially Low-E (low-emissivity) windows. While windows are great for letting the light in, they mess with your signal by reflecting it. We know what you’re thinking… How can windows and glass affect my WiFi signal? They are transparent and not as thick as walls. A combination of these materials increases the amount of WiFi interference. Typically, mastic is used to install ceramic tiles on plaster or drywall. Like drywall, the WiFi signal weakens as it travels through ceramic tile. 4 - Ceramic TileĪnother common material used for walls and floors. Since metal lath consists of metal and takes part in creating thicker walls, the WiFi signal can be greatly reduced or blocked. When laths are used, more than 5/8th-inch of plaster can be applied. Occasionally, it’s used for concrete ceilings and floors. Many modern structures use metal laths in plaster to act as a framework for interior walls. Even though plaster walls are not extremely thick, they will slow down the WiFi signal as it travels. Typically, the thickness is 5/8th of an inch for walls and 1/8th of an inch for floors. Plaster is made up of lime, gypsum, or cement, that is used to coat walls and ceilings. The thicker the concrete, the harder it is for the signal to pierce through - even with the help of a WiFi booster which are also referred to as WiFi repeaters or WiFi extenders. Especially if they are coupled with metal laths. As a result, WiFi signal has a hard time passing through concrete walls and floors. WiFi signal does not mix well with concrete as it’s one of the thickest building materials. The more metal there is between your WiFi router and the connected device, the worse the WiFi signal will be. What does electricity have to do with WiFi? Radio waves are electromagnetic, meaning that metal has the ability to absorb them.Īnything that has metal, such as metal blinds, doors, furniture, buildings, and walls, can greatly lessen or completely kill WiFi signal. Metal is the hardest material to penetrate because it’s a conductor of electricity. The following list is ranked from worst to least. Signal issues can also be caused by physical objects and radio waves from other devices. Materials that Interfere with Your WiFi Signalīuilding materials are the worst WiFi signal blockers, but they are not the only ones. You can always improve signal to a cellular router by using a signal booster. All of this adds up to bad signal at your router. Anything that blocks the radio waves path or causes electromagnetic interference, will block or weaken the signal. The waves are part of the electromagnetic spectrum. Routers (also known as WiFi access points) wirelessly transmit radio waves to communicate with your wireless devices. Better safe than sorry.īTW, I do sorta wish we could vote for a 4.5 score. One was a very direct D: to E: style if it was from CD-USB (not what I had). That opened a command prompt window in that directory, with a list of instructions to copy to USB. FYI, what I did was found that ubcd2usb.cmd file and ran it. The first step is to burn the CD with the ISO image and to insert it into the damaged computers CD-ROM. Hard drives are less expensive per gig than ever, it seems, so a good backup is well within reach for most computer users, I think. Ok, I just verified this, it booted, and everything I tried from the boot menu worked. This boot CD contains different applications for repairing, restoring, and diagnosing just about any computer issue. Lastly, ALWAYS to a backup before making any significant changes to your rig. Some things can't easily be undone if you do them and they don't work out as expected. That'd be cool if they could get the companies to donate those tools under the GPL or some such thing.Īlso, you may want to experiment with this in a Virtual Machine (VirtualBox, VirtualPC, VMware, etc.) until you become familiar with it. The app is just over 1MB in size and is notably. Too bad they can't bundle Norton Ghost 2003 for DOS and Spinrite 6 in that bad boy. Rufus is a standalone app designed to format and create a bootable USB drive for a large variety of ISOs. Some of these apps can be pretty hard to figure out for people that are only used to GUI's, and perhaps they could make it more user friendly with more help files and wizard-type assistance. I do think they might want to create a supplemental version with a better interface, sort of like what DigiWiz did with PE Builder. May not be the Best at what it does, but it's legal and open source and can be extremely helpful. |
